The Dynamic Way of Vine of Obstacles Zen: Zazen, Study, and Engagement (Upcoming Talk Series)
Radiant Lake Superior

Sundays, January 12 through February 16th, 10:00-11:15am Central Time

Are you are interested in starting the New Year afresh by focusing your life on the dharma, rather than on the drama that overshadows this transient world? If so, you will find this talk series to be supportive of your path.

"The Dynamic Way of Vine of Obstacles Zen" will be directed both for current students, and for those who may be interested in becoming Vine of Obstacles students. You are also welcome to attend if your aim is simply to glean some new perspectives for your personal practice.

The series will dig into the three essentials of the Zen Way – zazen, study, and engagement (although not in that order). We'll offer you our approach – both fresh and traditional – to these essentials. Attend any or all of the six talks. Three of the talks will be given by the Vine teachers, Tetsugan Sensei and Dosho Roshi, and three will be given by Vine students.

This is a great way to check out the Vine community, while getting a good look at what the practice is about.

Schedule

Engagement: January 12 (teacher talk) and 19 (student talk). Focus: Zen is about relationship. Here is how we do it.

Zazen: January 26 (teacher talk) and February 2 (student talk). Focus: We'll give detailed instructions that we hope you will find helpful at any point in the journey.

Study: February 2 (teacher talk) and February 9 (student talk). Focus: How to study the buddhadharma with the ultimate goal of realizing how stupid we are.

More about the Vine

The Vine is for those who are clear about wanting to plumb the depths of this one precious life, and who have a burning sense of the Way Seeking Mind. Those with an established practice tend to acclimate to the Vine training container more smoothly than those with no experience, but the student characteristic that is most important is the aspiration to awaken for the benefit of all beings.
